Resident
McLaren Greater Lansing/Michigan State University
I am a 4th year General Surgery Resident at McLaren Greater Lansing with Michigan State University. Before residency, I completed the DO-PhD program at Michigan State University, with a PhD in Anthropology under the guidance of Linda Hunt. My dissertation focused on the history and development of the healthcare system in Malawi, as well as the variability of practices throughout the healthcare network and more abstract elements of interpersonal communication. Before graduate school, I assist Andrea Freidus with Anthropology research in Malawi, and I assisted Tony Bauer with gut physiology research at UPMC. I was also fortunate to work with NGOs in Haiti. I grew up in Green Bay, WI and attended college at Carthage College, in Kenosha, WI, where I studied Biology, Chemistry and Studio Art, while also playing on the basketball team. I live in Lansing, MI with my wife, Jacqui, and our two toddlers, Desmond and Declan. My career interests include Abdominal Transplant and General Surgery.
