Dr. Gerard A. Baltazar DO FACOS FACS is a trauma and acute care surgeon for NYU Langone Health where his work and research have focused on the operative management of chest wall injuries, post-injury osteopathic manipulative treatment, health equity and trauma system development. Decades of work in underserved communities inform his egalitarian and trauma-informed approach to patient care. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Baltazar has participated in several surgical missions in the developing world and has held administrative and national leadership positions in general and trauma surgery and surgical critical care. Through the goal of uniting osteopathic principles and practice with acute surgical care, Dr. Baltazar works to demonstrate that togetherness and the dismantling of barriers can lead to the best possible outcomes. Dr. Baltazar is married to Dr. Maria Margarita Lopez, a physiatrist. They have two beautiful daughters and hail from New York.
