Student Doctor
University of the Incarnate Word
My name is Kimberly Lince, M.S. a third-year osteopathic medical student at the University of the Incarnate Word SOM and a 2LT in the US Air Force. My research is focused on gynecologic and urologic research with additional interest in military medicine and healthcare disparities. I have a background in medical chemistry and biology with particular training in the administration portions of healthcare including finance and equality program planning. As lead student research on several university funded grants, I have created research opportunities for 15+ medical students at my relatively new osteopathic school. I have successfully led these projects (creating research question, recruiting, IRB approval, agenda planning, accountability, budgeting, etc.), while collaborating with researchers and clinicians from other institutions and produced several award-winning poster presentations and have multiple manuscripts currently being submitted for peer-reviewed publications. As not only student researcher but a 2Lt in the USAF my approach to osteopathic education and military medicine could be summed up as synergistic. I have orchestrated the collaboration of both military and civilian osteopathic medical students from across the nation through multiple events. In addition to being the student leader for the implementation of one of the first successful field training exercises that integrated military medics in training, alongside both civilian and military, osteopathic and allopathic, medical students. In conclusion, I have the leadership skills, training, and a passion that is needed for the proposed research project to not only be a success, but an incredible learning opportunity for multiple osteopathic students and myself.
