Olutayo Sogunro, DO, MS, FACOS, FACS is a fellowship-trained Breast Surgical Oncologist. She was born in Nigeria and grew up in the state of Connecticut. She graduated from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT with her bachelor’s degree in biology and obtained her master’s in biology from Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT. She earned her medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM-Virginia) in Blacksburg, VA. She completed her general surgery residency training at Ohio University - Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, OH. She was previously practicing general surgery followed by acute care surgery and trauma surgery then decided to transition her career into breast surgical oncology. She completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Maryland and is a full time practicing Breast Surgical Oncologist in Maryland. She is a member of the Quality Initiatives Committee of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. During her time in clinical practice in both community general surgery and in acute care and trauma surgery, she has been involved in various hospital-based quality improvement projects in addition to participating in clinical research.
