Scott A. Blickensderfer, D.O., FACOS, board-certified, urological surgeon in South Bend, Indiana and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Memorial Hospital of South Bend and Mishawaka Medical Center. He is a past president of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS).
Dr. Blickensderfer has served the College in many capacities since becoming a member as a resident in 1991. One of his first appointments was serving as a member on the Scientific Exhibits and Posters Committee, where he went on to review peer research and case studies for more than fourteen years. Dedicated to osteopathic surgical education, he developed the urological surgery discipline education program for the Mid-Year Meeting in 1995 and for the Annual Clinical Assembly in 2003. He also volunteered on the Investment Advisory Committee, Ceremonial Committee, Bylaws Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee for several years. In 2007, he was elected to the Board of Governors, where he served until being elected President.
Dr. Blickensderfer earned his medical degree from A. T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) and completed residency trainings at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital in Highland, Michigan and Bi-County Community Hospital in Warren, Michigan. During this period, he won the ACOS Resident Achievement Award twice and the Robert C. Erwin Award for outstanding manuscript. He held an internship at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan and did his initial surgical service at Mount Clemens General Hospital in Mount Clemens, Michigan. He was in solo practice for ten years and served as an associate professor at ATSU-KCOM before joining Urology Associates of South Bend.
